Downingtown West and Penncrest face off in the final regular season game of the season

Downingtown West hosts Penncrest tonight for both team’s final game of the regular season.  Both teams have secured a place in the playoffs; however this game determines which seed the two teams earn, ninth or tenth.

The two squads have excelled this season.  Downingtown have built up a 23-5 record, with an impressive 11-out-of-12 wins within the conference.  The Lions, at 17-11, have had a relatively even record within the conference at 9-10.Ryan Betley

The Whippets have won their last two contests, the most recent of which was a 70-63 win over rivals Coatesville.  Ryan Betley is coming off a 31-point performance, a night when everything was falling for the junior guard.

Nolan Carroll  Penncrest is coming off a 49-37 victory over Academy Park, giving the Lions a couple of consecutive wins.  Senior Nolan Carroll is coming off a string of good games.  The guard scored 23 points against Academy, shooting 6-of-7 from beyond the arch.

The winner earns the ninth seed and a probably matchup against PCL and District 12 champions, Roman Catholic, ranked 14th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings.  A loss gives the team the tenth seed and a game against District 3 runner-up Cedar Valley.

The opening tipoff is tonight at 7:00 as Downingtown West and Penncrest go head-to-head.
